Global Context
Stillbirth isn't an issue that only occurs in part of the world or in certain places having a stillbirth only happens to women meaning any female throughout the globe can lose a child . Stillbirth is an extremely sad experience that happens everyday to women all over the world . According to “Maternal and Child Health “, John Ehiri explains The most recent published global estimate of 3.2 million stillbirths . That number seems high enough for most of the world to be aware of stillbirths ,however, stillbirth is still a taboo topic that isn't warned to mothers or mothers to be . There is two world regions that take up to two thirds of the worlds stillbirths Sub-Saharan Africa takes up 28% and 40% from South Asia. . Since stillbirth is an issue that occurs in various places i believe other issues interconnect with stillbirth . For example i believe inequality for women is considered an issue that goes along with stillbirth also, the number of health clinics available for women. Issues such as depression , suicide , health problems interconnect to having a stillborn . Still of course other ways of infant loss connects to stillbirth as in sids , miscarriage . As you can see stillbirth is by far a very global issue . Meaning the whole entire world should be well aware of what stillbirth is especially women if they are at risk . Some may question why this issue cannot be addressed . Its a matter of avoiding the issue because its saddens so many people . No cure or cause also leads to no solution to the issue being addressed . Stillbirth is a largely unstudied problem as ive said 1 in every 160 deliveries ends in stillbirth frequently no one can say why .Encouragingly, the work of the physicians and scientists participating in the National Institute of Health’s Stillbirth Collaborative Research Network (SCRN) is beginning to bear fruit. The August 2010 issue of the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology included an important article in which the SCRN investigators presented their “standardized method to assign probable and possible causes of death of stillbirths based on information routinely collected during prenatal care and the clinical evaluation of fetal death.” Finding out how women can prevent stillbirth is crucial . Support from the government would enhance research . Research of the sort conducted by the SCRN is expensive and time consuming.
